Marco Mencoboni

Inspired by Platonic and Aristotelian philosophies and as much as by the
Christian tradition, the works of 16th c. composer Diego Ortiz were
intended to be presented in the ‘Cantar Lontano’ style, with musicians
distributed throughout the concert space to most effectively use the
lively acoustics of the chapels and churches of the day. Marco Mencoboni
and his Cantar Lontano ensemble revive the splendours of Vespers at the
Neapolitan Court in second half of the 16th century, creating a the richness
of sound through interplay between the music, the musicians and the
performance venue that will plunge us in a voluptuous harmonic bath
of polychorality. (Followed by the opportunity for a group dinner
within the Monastery of Sant’Anna in Camprena, the Tuscan film location
of The English Patient.)
