The Piccola Accademia di Montisi will return to Rome with a special 4 day Master Class, in co-production with the Villa Medici / Académie de France à Rome and Capriccio Stravagante

The course is free of tuition fees to eligible students. However a non-refundable €80 registration fee is required for the course.

To qualify, students must be presently enrolled in a university level music study or be recently graduated.

Master Class information

The Master Classes at the Villa Medici / Académie de France à Rome will begin on 6 November at 10.00 and end on 9 November at 18.00. Students are expected to arrive on the afternoon of 5 November and to gather for dinner near the Villa on that evening.

The Master Classes will take place daily from 10.00 to 13:00 and from 16:00 to 18.00.

The Master Class will be limited to 8 students.

The Master Classes will be given on:

A double manual harpsichord after Blanchet 1730, by Bruce Kennedy, 2011, on loan from the Collection of the Piccola Accademia di Montisi.

A single manual harpsichord after 17th century Italian models by Bruce Kennedy, on loan from the Collection of the Piccola Accademia di Montisi.

Repertoire:

Special topic: Gustav Leonhardt’s solo harpsichord transcriptions of Bach solo violin and cello works (edited by Siebe Henstra, with a preface by Skip Sempé, to be published by Bärenreiter in August 2017).

Additional repertoire: Virginal music, Frescobaldi, Froberger.

Accommodation & travel

Accomodation and travel are the responsibility of the participants.

The Villa Medici / Académie de France à Rome is situated in central Rome, near the top of the Spanish steps.

After receiving a response of acceptance from the Piccola Accademia, please confirm your attendance to the master class by paying the registration fee through the Piccola Accademia paypal account within three weeks. The Master Classes are free of tuition fees to eligible participants. A non-refundable €80 registration fee is required.

We will hold your place in the class for three weeks and will confirm your place as soon as the registration fee has arrived. Please remember that your acceptance is final only after receiving a confirmation from the Piccola Accademia administration!
