Bob van Asperen

Bob van Asperen is Professor of Harpsichord at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam. He plays since many years recitals world wide and recorded more than 60 Solo CDs. These include first of all works by J.S. Bach: his Harpsichord Concertos, Welltempered-Clavier, Toccatas, Goldberg Variations, Two and Three Part Inventions, English Suites and Van Asperen’s transcriptions of his Violin Works: Ciaccona. Other composers recorded are C.P.E. Bach, Frescobaldi, Scarlatti, Händel, François Couperin, Sweelinck, Netherlandish Music of the 17th Century, John Bull and several others. Many of these productions received prizes like the Deutsche Schallplattenpreis, Preis der Deutschen Schallplattenkritik, Edison Award and several times Diapason d’Or.

Presently Van Asperen records for AEOLUS the complete work of Johann Jacob Froberger on historical harpsichords and organs, a project supported by AMBIENTE & ENVIRONMENT Architects, Münster (D). Of the first five volumes of this Froberger Edition some received awards like the Diapason d’Or and Dix du Répertoire. Recently was also issued J.S. Bachs Six French Suites on a harpsichord by Christian Vater, Hannover 1738 in the Germanischen Nationalmuseum, Nürnberg and volume 1 of the Louis Couperin Edition, whose complete work is recorded on historical harpsichords and organs, supported by Atelier PRO Architects The Hague (NL).
